What are they dumping into the Ohio river?

This is an annual tradition, people cheer and funds are raised when the river is filled with these yellow items.

Answer: Little rubber duckies - 86,000 of them in 2008. People buy a duck, and the money goes to end hunger. They pick one duck as the grand prize winner (a car) and five ducks as runners-up ($1,000 each).
