EDC stands for Every Day Carry. Your EDC consists of the things that you take with you everywhere you go - in your pockets or in a bag / briefcase / purse. There are several websites which have taken this concept to a new level.
- Some people focus on having all the tools necessary to handle an emergency like being trapped in the subway for several hours when the power goes out.
- Some focus on things that they would want in a natural disaster (part of / a compliment to a 72-hour kit).
- Others focus on a minimalist kit which takes very little room but covers basic needs. This type will look for a single tool which performs several functions.
- Some seem to be paramilitary folks preparing for an invasion.
- Still others seem to use these websites as a place to "show off" - focusing on the car keys to both of their Mercedes, the $900 pen, the $600 sunglasses, etc.
I love to look through the pictures and descriptions, and read the stories of how people use (or intend to use) the items in their kit. I find interesting things to add to my bag, camping kit, truck, 72-hour kit or food storage, etc. I also find lots of great present ideas (not the $600 sunglasses
).

wow--pretty crazy to see what people carry. lots of guns and knives out there. my favorite things were the teeny leatherman tool and the teeny flashlights. who knew those flashlights could be so expensive!!
